How sad my pen is, as it has no more time to tell about you(Along with the Sadegh of al-e Mohammad (Peace upon him)) and how ashamed is my soul and heart! It’s a long time that I am present in the tablecloth of your blessing but rarely thank God!
I wish a day would come when your words would be embedded in my flesh, skin and soul so that all my breath would speak from you and hear from you, and lucky “Amr Ibn Obaid”!
The day when he visited the founder of Jafari School of Jurisprudence, he had not even thought his fate!
It is quoted that one day, he came to see Imam Sadegh (peace upon him), and he was reciting the holy Quran. Then he became silent, and the Imam asked for the reason. In response, he said, I like to know the “Kaba’er” or cardinal sins from the book of God! The Imam stated:
(1) The greatest cardinal sins are polytheism, which God says: “Whoever commits polytheism, God has forbidden paradise to him.”
(2) And after that is despair of God’s mercy, because God Almighty says: “No one except the disbelievers, despair of God’s mercy.”
(3) And then, it is safety from the plot (punishment and respite) of God, because God Almighty says: “No one should be safe from the plot of God except the harming people.”
(4) Disobedience of parents is among the cardinal sins, because the God Almighty has constituted parents as ruthless bullies.
(5) The homicide which God has honored except rightly (in the case of retribution) because God Almighty says “His punishment is hell and will be eternal in it …”
(6) Accusing a chaste woman of adultery, because God Almighty says: “They are cursed in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have a great punishment.”
(7) Taking possession of the property of orphans, because God Almighty (about their punishment) says: “They swallow fire in their bellies and enter with a burning fire.”
(8) Fleeing from Jihad, because God Almighty says: “And whoever turns his back on them on that day, except he who deviates to fight or joins another group, he will return to the wrath of God, and his place is hell, which is a bad end.”
(9) Usury because God Almighty says: “Those who are usurers will rise like the one whom the devil disturbs with madness (that is, they will rise from the grave like madmen and drunkards).”
(10) Magic (jugglery) because God Almighty says: “Surely they knew that whoever buys magic, will not benefit from the Hereafter.”
(11) Adultery, because God Almighty says: “And whoever does so will see the punishment of his sin and his torment will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein forever by humiliation.”
(12) Making a false oath for criminality (such as taking the possession of people’s property) because God Almighty says: “Those who sell their covenant with God and their oaths for a small price have no benefit in the Hereafter.”
(13) In the spoils of war, because God Almighty says: “And whoever betrays in the spoils, he will come with what he has betrayed.”
(14) Withholding the obligatory Zakat, because the God Almighty says, “Their foreheads and backs are burnt with them (property of the withheld Zakat).”
(15) Giving false testimony and concealing testimony, because the God Almighty says, “Everyone who conceals testimony, his heart is sinful.”
(16) Drinking wine because God Almighty forbade it, just as He forbade the worship of idols (He has introduced both as filthy and evil in the same way in the holy Quran)
(17) Deliberately abandoning the obligatory prayer, because the Messenger of God stated, “Whoever abandons the prayer deliberately has abhorred the covenant and commitment of God and His Messenger.”
(18) & (19) Breaking the covenant because God Almighty says: “Those who break the covenant of God after its establishment and break what God has commanded to connect are those who are cursed” (Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 702, chapter 112, p. 24)
When the word reached here, Amro came out of the presence of the Imam Sadegh (peace upon him) while he was crying loudly and said, “Destruction belongs to those who said something in the interpretation of the Qur’an with their own judgment and stood against you the family of revelation in grace and knowledge.
And I wish I was like Amro after hearing the words of the Imam, while I am unaware of what they have called as the cardinal sins and I will commit it!
And who is except my God who will lead me to success and except my Imam and leader who gives me knowledge! May I be guided.
Let us listen to the lessons of “ Sadegh of al-e Mohammad(peace upon him)” more than ever, and quote his narrations like “”Jaber ibn-e Yazid and Jamil ibn-e Doraj”!
Let’s know him by the beauty of his words!
